Brad Burnside – Chairman & Co-Founder
Brad has thrived on forward-looking endeavors since he was a teenager, when he created his city’s first “progressive rock” FM radio station in 1971. His career on the leading edge of video retailing began with a small storefront and just 100 movies. By 1987, his three-store chain Video Adventure was ranked by revenue among the top 100 video rental operations in North America. He helped to conceive and launch Home Vision/PMI Home Video, a leading distributor of foreign and fine arts programs. Brad was inducted into the Merchandising Hall of Fame in 1990 and named Retailer of the Year for 1991 by the major motion picture studios. He also served on the board of the Video Software Dealers Association from 1986 to 1994, and was president of this international trade group for the 1992-93 association year.
John A. Furton – Senior Management Team - Family Home Video, Inc.
Until February 2004, John served as President and CEO of Sourcelight Inc. John's entrepreneurial roots stretch back to 1990, when he quit his day job at Kraft Foods, Inc. to join the pioneering e-commerce team that founded Peapod, Inc. John held several executive positions at Peapod including V.P. of Operations and Chief Information Officer. He graduated from Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) where he was recently honored as the University's Outstanding Young Alumnus.
Peter W. Frey – Senior Research Scientist, Pattern Recognition Systems
For close to thirty years, Peter taught on the faculty of Northwestern University, where his research focused on machine learning and computer-based decision systems. He’s the author of over 50 academic publications and several commercial software products. In 1991, he co-founded Pattern Recognition Systems to provide forecasting and data analysis services in the areas of consumer credit, targeted marketing and fraud detection. Peter graduated magna cum laude from Yale University and earned his PhD in experimental psychology at the University of Wisconsin. In 1997, Peter was named Emeritus at Northwestern University.
Robert M. Weissbourd – President, RW Ventures
Robert M. Weissbourd, President of RW Ventures, specializes in information economy applications to economic development. RW Ventures is currently undertaking research, business planning, private investment banking, start-up services and strategic management focused on IT-based opportunities, particularly in inner-city markets. Until recently, Bob served as Vice-President of Shorebank Chicago Companies, the management team responsible for Shorebank's Chicago operations. His work at Shorebank encompassed business planning for development finance institutions and programs; financial restructuring and capitalization; public policy; new product development and training. Before joining Shorebank in 1990, Bob was a partner at Hartunian, Futterman & Howard, specializing in federal constitutional and class action litigation, school desegregation and representation of government and non-profit agencies. He also served as a Hearing Officer for the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners. Bob clerked for federal Judge George Leighton after receiving his J.D. from Univerity of Chicago Law School and his B.A. in political science from Yale University.
Michael Resnick – Executive Vice President, William Harris Investors, Inc.
Michael Resnick has been an Executive Vice President with William Harris Investors, Inc., a federally registered investment adviser, with investments in real estate, private equity, venture capital, alternative investment vehicles and conventional securities markets, since 1995. Prior to William Harris (1991-1995), he was an associate at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York. In addition to Sourcelight, he sits on the boards of ResQNet, Impli and Marketing Out-of-the-Box, all portfolio investments of William Harris. He received his B.A. from Yale University and his JD at Harvard Law School.
